How long should I leave eggs in the incubator?

We are hatching some eggs and some are three days past the due date, but they still haven't pipped. We candled them and they are really dark. Are they delayed because it was kind of cold? Please give me some answers.

I have had eggs hatch up to a full week after the expected hatch date. I attribute that to the loss of power a few times. At one point, I had given up and cracked one to see what was the problem and it was alive, just not ready to hatch yet. 2 days later, the rest hatched.
