This is my first time incubating eggs and have a question. We went into the lock down on the 9th and the eggs have not moved, chirped, or piped. How long should I wait before we toss the eggs? I really could not see any movement on the 8th before lockdown. I have had alot of trouble with the incubator ( little giant ) It is borrowed and I have had trouble with bacteria, I started out with 18 and am now down to 9. Two of the eggs are marans so I really could never see in the shells to well. None of the eggs smell rotten or anything. How long should I wait?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you, lock down on the 9th and nothing! My LG was new when I set it up and I have had some problems with it, but I think it is due to power surges in the house. We have and enormous shop being built and it is currently running off the house power, so any time someone uses power equipment and lights the power in the house surges and at one point, the day after I set the eggs my temp spiked up to 106 or something. It only sat there for 30 minutes or so because I had been checking on the eggs frequently, but I think that caused damage, the PO caused damage shipping on package of eggs, and my thermometers have been off, I think

so this first hatch for me has been somewhat troublesome.
So far the other eggs I have set appear to be doing well.
Since I don't have any smelly eggs I am going to give them a few extra days, I think my temps have been a degree low for most of the incubation time so maybe the are just gonna be late. Frustrating as heck though.....

I have had 3 chicks hatch

All of them have been shrink wrapped so they have needed help. The rest of the eggs I candled I can see the chick and movement but I don't think they can pip. I have already lost one from this it could not pip all the way. I opened it up to help and she was dead

How can I help the other eggs? I hate to see them die, I at least need to try

Thanks

Good to know some are hatching!

I was getting really worried about mine. Lockdown on the 7th and no news from them. I thought they were dead so Icandled one and it's still alive. And now tonight we're starting to hear a few peeps here and there.

Thanks. There are only 3 in there and it sounds like only one's peeping now, but if just one hatches I'll still be happy! More than one would be sweet. I'll probably post a new thread in a few days no matter what happens.
