How long should you wait before declaring eggs under a hen no good?

I have a hen that was brooding on 4 eggs. One hatched Friday late afternoon, the other Saturday morning, and now there are 2 eggs left. How long can you wait to toss the eggs? Also once the chicks are removed to be reared alone how long will she sit on an empty nest before giving up? Is there something I can do to get her to not continue to brood?

She might keep trying for a while or not. You just never know. Since they are nearing a week after the hatch date I would take them out and float test them just to make sure.
