I just added some new hens to my flock. They were already laying but had not been bred. My Roosters started breeding with them almost immediatly. I was just curious about what is the normal amount of days till they start laying fertile eggs? Thanks

I'd say a few days until you would get very fertile eggs, but im not very sure!

I've read on here that it only takes a day or 2 to get fertile eggs after breeding starts.
But opinion varies widely on how long a hen will STAY fertile after her last breeding. Anywhere from a week to a month.

On my hen I cracked the eggs open and they were still fertile 3 wks later. Of course this is the only hen I actually checked fertility on, I'm sure it varies .

What if another rooster replaces the first. Who's the real daddy? Does the second rooster take the fertility over?
