I'm in the pacific northwest and have a small flock of almost 50 hens. They're Road Island Reds and started laying about a month ago. I know it's getting colder and darker so I'm only averaging 18 eggs a day. I figure that will go up when we get to spring.
The thing that worries me is the size of the eggs. For the first couple of weeks I got peewee eggs. Now I get about half that are medium (49.6grams each) and the other half small, with the occasional peewee. I was under the impression that Road Island Reds laid large to XLarge eggs. How long do you think it will be until I start getting large eggs?

Welcome to BYC!
50 birds is not a small flock!
It can take days or weeks or months for egg to gain size.
Optimizing nutrition and reducing stress may help.
