My little silkie pullet's hormones have kicked in and after laying for about 3 months she's gone broody...

Today was DAY 6 of being in the "brooder breaker cage" and nothing's changed - is this normal?

I do not want her being broody, I want her back to normal and laying eggs!

It seems like my silkies are always broody. I pick them up out of the nesting box and carry them around for about 10 minutes. Sometimes I let them graze in a "special" part of the yard that they usually don't have access to, seems to break the cycle in about a week. I feel your pain.

i lucked out with my girl. she went broody hatched my eggs and kicked them to the curb and was soon laying eggs again. she doesnt want to be a mommy but hatches for me anyway! lol

I am on day 2 of my BO going broody-- and not a rooster in sight! Shes all puffed up double her usual size. I took her out of the nest for over an hour twice today and she went right back. The problem is while broody she wont lay right? and the others want to use only that nest- so where are they going to lay?

I broke two hens of broodiness in 3 days in the "broody breaker cage" but this little one is STUBBORN!

We'll see if today, Day 7, is the magic day when her hormones get back to normal...
