I am wondering what the natural lifespan of a chicken is? How long can a hen lay eggs? Any one here have an elderly chicken? If so how old was it? I am curious.........

7 to 20 years, depends a lot on breed, genetics, care, etc.

I had an EE hen live to be 18. Her beard sagged halfway down her neck and white feathers started growing in around her face. She laid eggs up until she was 12 and they were flat. They looked like a deflated egg only with a hard shell.

Baldy ( a game hen from excellent lines ) is nine and lays me pancake eggs. She still goes broody, and is so right now, she's a good girk.

my dog killed my girlfriend's step mother's pet 12 year old Barred Rock. Got to assume she would have lived longer if he hadn't "retrieved" her for daddy.
