I have heard to keep my layers for one year and two years and was wondering what you thought, How many eggs does a Rhode Island Red hen lay the first year? The second?
I looked up your question on Rhode Island reds and this is want I got: Hens lay 5–7 eggs per week. The hens lay approximately 312 eggs in their first laying season and 223 in the second.
Okay, thank you, in the past I have kept them til they die but from a production standpoint that's not my best option, I was wondering how long would they continue to make money and pay for their feed bill. Thank you.
