My broody had 4 eggs under her. Day 21 was Friday... 3 hatched 1 hasn't done anything yet.
SO how long should I give it before tossing it

Also winter can have effect on the days that a chick is born. My broody hatched chicks from day 24-30.

if she is still on it give it a couple more days. you can also candle it and see if the air cell is still attached. if it is floating it probably is a dud, or if it has a bad odor it is definitely gone bad. i had this happen today.

chicks have been hatching about 1 each day since tuesday for me here.

Ok, I'll give her a while longer.
I would love to candle the last one but it's a dark olive green from my EE and I can't see anything. It has gained weight since it was set so I know it was developing for a while. Just at day 19 my broody pooped right on top of it and I felt I had to rinse it off, used warm water only and dried it off... but I'm still concerend that I could have drowned it. I didn't know what else to do, I couldn't just leave it with runny poo all over it. I hope it's just a late bloomer.

One day I was cleaning out the incubator and taking out the duds... well, one must have rolled off somewhere... I smelled something bad and went looking or it. Low and behold I found the egg (2 months later). I went to pick it up and it BLEW UP right in my face... I uttered a cry and was like NOOOOOOOO! It literally POPPED! The sound was like "CRACK."

LOL, don't you complain about finding a bad egg

Well is was a dud. on day 22 she kept kicking it out from under her and I would kept sticking it back. I gave up at the end of the day and cracked it and it was definatly a quiter. My inexperanced guess is quit around day 3 or so. And broody just knew it. Those smart little chickies
