How long to lay

I plan to get more chickens. BTW, I'm keeping the rooster to himself right now. but trying to find buffs in my area is pretty hard. And with the way egg and meat prices are going up, they don't want to sell any right now, this bird flu is scaring people with chickens, one county over they just dispatched thousands in the last few weeks.
You should be able to find buff orpington chicks at pretty much almost any major hatchery. I like Meyer but there are many others such as cackle, hoover, McMurray and ideal poultry. Tractor supply should also be starting to get chicks in the next few weeks

I'm going by what people said in this post, that I needed to give her laying mash.
Pretty much everyone said you needed to give her a proper chicken feed, not specifically layer, although that was an option too. Given you have a rooster all flock with oyster shell on the side would work better as layer feed is bad for roosters and any nonlaying bird. That said, layer feed is fine if you're just giving it to her, although personally I don't like how little protein is in most layer feed
