How long to rest eggs when they were kept pointy side up?

I just bought some easter egger eggs. They were kept pointy side up, and when candling them most of the air bubbles are on the wrong end. So, how long should I let these rest (pointy side down) before setting them on their sides in my warmed up incubator? 4 hours, 8 hours? 24? They've been held at room temp for the last 3 days. I picked them up in person so no shipping. I set them to rest pointy side down about an hour ago. Normally I would let them rest on their sides, as they would be in the incubator, but I feel like pointy side down for now is best to right the wrong. Thoughts?

If these eggs were stored so that the air cells developed on the wrong end, I'm not sure it's possible at this point to get the cells to migrate back to the (optimal) "fat" end of the egg. Personally, I would plan to incubate them pointy side up in a carton and be prepared to assist hatchers, as needed.

Best of luck!

I didn't think to do that. About half of the eggs travelled where they should be as far as the air pocket. I set them last night, almost one day down. I'm not sure if my automatic egg turner is actually turning them though, as I haven't caught it in action, so I've been pressing the turner button myself a few times a day. Need to learn more about my incubator. It is a Nurture Right 360 from TSC.

It's great that the air cells returned to the optimal position! Please keep us (BYC community) updated on how it goes.

I don't have the NR360, but if you search on "Nurture Right not turning", you'll find threads that should help (and maybe allay your fears 🙂). If you don't have them handy, you can find the unit's instructions here: https://media.tractorsupply.com/is/...mpany/tsc/product/1/29/21/33/1292133_Man1.pdf.

Thanks a bunch! That will be super helpful!

We put two of the easter egger eggs in the fridge for eating...they were not looking fertile and I needed the room for my 12 blue australorp eggs! Yayy! I have a full incubator (22 eggs) that are on day 1 and day 0 for these two sets. 10 are easter eggers and 12 are my fresh, properly stored blue australorps!
