Hey guys,
My quail has just come into lay. We're 3 eggs in and I see they are progressively getting bigger with each passing day. Now, we only have two coturnix - they've ended up being a pair, so keen to hatch out more asap before he gets the chance to rub her raw. I can only assume they're doing the thing though I haven't caught them in the act. Will need to crack open these fairy eggs and look for a bullseye.
Now, I know hatching pullet eggs is asking for trouble so how long should I give her for her eggs to get a bit more uniform before setting them? I'm really unsure regarding the maturity rate on these little guys.
I have a silkie with a bit of empty nest syndrome right now just begging to be given some fertile eggs and my roosters are still babies at heart and not taking their duties seriously just yet.
What do you guys think? Would a week be long enough for things to be in order with her where I can confidently set her eggs and expect some good results?
