How long until I give up?

Hi I Have 4 chicken eggs in the incubator that haven't hatched and it's day 24. I know at least 1 is alive cause if I hold his egg up to my ear I can hear him pecking. There might be others. But my question is, when do I give up on them?

Have your temperatures been running on the low side? As long as there is tapping, there is hope.

Yeah the temp has been a little low. I had one hatch on day 22 and one on day 23, but none today. I started out with 12 chicken eggs but had to eliminate the Yolkers and quitters, but I still had 6 good eggs and only 2 have hatched... I'm getting worried...

The temps may vary throughout your incubator, and some late arrivals may still make it.

Oh and the temp of the incubator (it's a homemade still-air if that helps) got up to 106F for 10-20 mins tops. Did it hurt any of my eggs? Oh and I had some duck eggs in there too. I candled one and it was fine- took up about 3/4 of the egg and had healthy vessels and was moving. I candled the other and it was about half that size, not moving unless I moved the egg( in which it jiggled) and the vessels were not distinct but just sort of a pinkish hue and a pinkish ring around it. Is that duck dead? It was alive earlier this week and has always been small-what do you think did this to it?
