How long until my chickens warm up to me?

Hooray! That's so great to hear! We're already shopping for a larger coop for the girls which we just love. We purchased an Eglu Go but want something bigger perhaps and a few more girls. I never knew this would be so much fun and so easy.

Once my girls began laying eggs they became VERY friendly. Actually, it was like a switch was thrown; they began to do the "chicken squat" and begged to be held and cuddled.

their doing great.. you can pet them, and eat from your hand.. whoot whooot.. all is good!!!!
time,... as they mature and you keep showing them the love.. they will be all yours!!!! hehehe.. heck I dont know what I am really saying, cause my chickens I havent had forever yet. Some of mine.. run away.. some dont.. each is so different, but they are all so young still. I figure as they age and see that I am not a threat and I am a human goody bag.. they will love.. love.. love me..hehehe

I agree with the others, sounds like you are doing everything right. I used to sit in my pen and read and it wasn't long before my young ones would hop up into my lap.

Patience is the key, move slowly and NEVER, EVER allow anyone to chase them or grab at them. If a guest on mine wants to hold one of my girls (and they always do) I pick her up and show my guest how to hold.

Would love to see pictures???????

Ditto Mine really became affectionate after laying. They jump up on top of their doghouse and each has to be petted before settling down for night....just like kids.

Such a pretty little flock......., and they look very healthy. My Delawares are by far the friendliest and cuddly of all my breeds.
