Trapped in the coop?! Never have locks only operable from the outside! It's only funny later. Much later.

I was beating on an interior wall in the run with a hammer and the vibration caused the the slide bolt to move a inch and locked me in.Trapped in the coop?! Never have locks only operable from the outside! It's only funny later. Much later.

After no one came to my rescue I found a pry bar left in the corner( I never put all my tools up ) Forced the door open enough to open the lock myself. Terrifying! lolTrapped in the coop?! Never have locks only operable from the outside! It's only funny later. Much later.

Yes- I do the same. I put about 1/2 quart cracked corn and sunflower seeds out every night in front of the house along with water. The raccoon will eat for hours. He no longer tries to get in to my run ( supposedly predator proof with hardware cloth) I do lock my girls in the coop every night which is also predator proof. I think a full tummy satisfied raccoon isn’t going to go through the work when easy food is available. I feel for them too…Hunger is a terrible thing. I choose to leave food and water in the front of my house away from the coop, especially during spring when babies are born. I have not lost any of my free roaming chickens or ducks in all the years I've had them.
