My one hen was sitting on one of Red's eggs for the last 21 days. Lastnight the egg should have hatched. Chick was alive and chirping around dinnertime but before I went to bed I checked on the egg again and there was no sounds coming from it anymore:(. So I carefully cracked the egg open to check and see if I was really too late for the little poor thing, and I was. It suffocated in the egg. First time I've had this happen to me. My question is how long is it going to take my hen to get back in to the laying buisness and forget what happened? Since I have never had no chick for the hen to rear I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone give me some insight on this please. Thank you...

My broodies have started laying again around 7-10 days after they were through raising the chicks. Not sure if it will be the same in this situation or not, sorry.
