After seeing a clutch of eggs that are enough to sit on, how long would it take until she actually goes broody? Or does it depend on the hen?

It depends on the hen.

But "usually" if they see a full nest, they will choose to sit on it.

That being said . . . all of my broodies have actually sat on empty nests, so I've had to put eggs underneath them all.

Good luck!

I have a silkie that has gone broody twice in 3 months. They went broody because there was a lot of eggs in the nest (neighboor forgot to get them while we were on vacation). one of my other hens was "practicing" for a few weeks though too. She would sit on her egg for hours at a time.
