How long ???

Hi there

My hen that hatched one chick is in with the hen that hatched five chicks.

They seem ok together one minute and are then scrapping the next ??

It is the hen with the older chick (7 weeks) that is being stroppy. Should I put her back in with the main flock without her baby as I dont want to risk the baby in with the main lot until it is bigger ?? I dont know what the usual time would be when mom would start wanting to be away from the chick.

The hen is laying again and is showing signs that she would like to see the rooster

If they are not hurting each other, I would leave them be. How ould you feel cooped up with another young mother and her babies? HAHAHAHA! If they ARE hurting each other then I would take the hen and her baby and seperate them. Otherwise they will work it out.

I was just wandering if anyone knew what the age of the chick would be when the mother naturally stopped looking after it ... but I take it no one knows.
