Just out of curiosity, about how many years does a rooster last in a breeding flock? I know with hens it's a few years till their fertility rates drop. What about roosters though? I have tried to research the answer to this question with no luck [IMG]

    Thanks!

In the end it depends on the individual. Just and there are 10 year old hens laying eggs, there are 10 year old roosters fathering chicks. Probably older, in both cases.

I believe roosters last longer than hens, in reference to fertility, though.
