How longs will fertile eggs keep before going into incubator?

What's the best way to handle/ store eggs before they go into the incubator?
Also, how many days can you wait before putting them in the incubator and starting the incubation process?

I'm a newbie... trying to learn the process.

Some will tell you up to 10 days, with some lose. I have hatched out eggs at 7 days, with good results. My own eggs i never kept over 3 days before putting them in the incubator. Time is the main reason for shipped eggs having a low hatch rate. (My opinion)
