thinking about getting ducks instead of chickens this spring. i made a thread about ducks vs. chickens and some people suggest call ducks

how loud are they? a link to a video of a talkative hen would be helpful

thanks!

Here's a couple of videos of my Doog. The first was taken when we first got them so our set up is much better now!

Hope this helps. The second video was Doog's quiet quack. Even the first video doesn't quite show how loud they can get. They sure are cute little bossy people though. Plus my neighbours love them and quite like the quacking noises that come from my garden

The hens are very VERY loud, when the lights come on in our house in the mornings I can ear the girls inside the house. They give their greeting call anytime I go outside and first thing when the lights get turned on in the kitchen. 1 or 2 girls are not as bad as many of course. Remember these ducks were bred and raised to "call" in wild ducks for hunters. Ours called in a pair of mallard girls this past week. They hung out for the day then flew off.

Yep! Spoiled little brats get their water bowls changed almost 5 times a day! They also have to make sure they have food in their feeder or they make a ton of noise even if they aren't eating any.

I have found that my calls are very calm and laid-back when it comes to picking them up and etc compared to my other larger ducks. I can get within 3 feet of the calls and they just carry away and they just ignore me doing whatever they were doing before I entered the pen. The bigger ducks.. well they just don't like me in general!

I can get within maybe 4 yards before they start flapping their wings and climbing over each other to get back in their house.

I would send you some audio of my bunch of Calls, but they blew the speakers up.

Right now, mine are INSANELY loud! If you are concerned about noise in any way, Calls aren't a good option unless you go strictly with the drakes.
They are however, the most adorable little things you'll ever see.

Mine really don't make any noise unless they see me and they want something. When I go outside, they usually try to tell me they want treats, fresh water in their pool, food, or all of the above. And the girls quack pretty loud when the boys take off for their daily joy-flight, because they're mad they can't fly with them. The noise doesn't bother me. Now, if you want something that IS LOUD (and irritating) get some guineas!
