How loud are turkeys?

no, you're right, they arent as ear piercing as those..Hens are a soft cluck and pur most of the time, every now and then they do a load, pop pop sound

I saw a tom the other day at the little petting zoo they have where I get my Christmas tree and he came right over to me when he saw me approach the fence and kept making some kind of soft sound over and over.
Its hard to describe, not really a clucking but....

Mine make all sorts of clucks and hiccups. They're a bit louder than my chicken hens, but a lot quieter than the roosters.

You should hear my neighborhood when a police or ambulance siren goes off. The neighborhood dogs, from dachshund to wolf hybrids, all mimic the siren. Then, not to be outdone, my tom tukey gobbles along with the tune. It's actually quite musical.

Most of the time the turkeys are quite. But my females like to talk to me at times and the males like to gobble wen they hear a noise, see a threat, or want to announce their presence. My dogs are much more annoying.

I wouldn't say my belts are loud and I have other fairly quiet birds(muscovies for ducks). The only time I hear my tom gobble is when power tools are running. The hens are quite and make cute little noises. But I guess quiteness is in the ear of the beholder!
