How loud is a cockadoodledoo

I don't have a rooster because I do not want to alarm the neighbors. Are bantam birds not as loud? And from what I read a Bantam rooster should do fine with a full size haram.

The loudness of crowing is varied and unfortunately, there is no one size or breed that is more quiet than others. It is an individual thing. I have had giant standard cochins with a low, quiet crow, and little bantams with a crow that was more like a squeak. Ive also had bantams and large fowl that could knock your socks off with their crow. If you want a rooster with a quiet crow, the best way is to search among your friends for an adult rooster who is already known to be quiet.

Bantams are just as loud. My little guy has no problem with being heard!

The loudness of a roo is directly dependent on 2 things.
1) How early he hops the run fence to come stand under your window to yell "It's MORRRRRNING"
and
2) How late you were PLANNING on sleeping in.

Every roo is different. I had a cochin roo whose voice was deep and more booming than loud. And a banty up the road right now is loud enough for me to hear clearly 5 acres away.

I would venture to say that my roo has a decent crow. I keep them in the Coop until I decide to go and let them out. That way he can crow his fool head off and I never hear it in the house when I am sleeping. Once I get up and let them out, he continues to crow all thru the day. I have only a few neighbors and the closest ones are a quarter mile away so I dont have to worry about them. That is my solution to sleeping in. Hope it helps.
