How many adult chickens will fit?

We have an 8x12 barn and I'm wondering how many full-size chickens will fit comfortably. I don't want them squished like sardines! Thanks.

Rule of thumb is 4 square feet inside the coop and 10 square feet of run space per LF. I'd suggest more inside space if the run isn't protected from rain/snow etc. and they're likely to be confined to the coop for longish periods of time due to bad weather. On the other hand if you have a large well protected run you can fudge it the other way because they won't be doing much but sleeping and laying in the coop. 8x12 coop with 240' run would = 24 chooks.

Chickens like about four square feet per bird, I say about 25 may be comfortable.
