I have 2 pekins that are 3 weeks old is it o.k to give them as many peas, and green beans as they want?

Erm peas are a bit of a problem in my house! .. My ducks come in the kitchen and stand by the freezer. they know exactly how to manipulate me until i gve them peas.... Then If my husband cooks dinner he looks at me and says, have you given the ducks all of our peas? I say yep then he says for heaven sake I bought them their own bags of peas!... so I say THEY ARE NAUGHTY DUCKS lol ......

Ha ha - love this topic. I am going through about 6 x 1-pound bags a week for 8 ducks. Unfortunately the chickens have now developed a taste for them as well so when I toss peas out into the backyard it's a crazy free-for-all.

What was it you read about kale and calcium?!? My girls (chooks) ate about a metric ton of kale I grew last season...

jeez, something I'll have to research again..I was looking for why my ducks egg shell suddenly became thinner and I thought it was because I was feeding the girls too many other goodies and they were'nt eating enough calcium layer pellets or had stopped eating oyster shell...but vaguely recall that someone suggested excess kale (which has calcium) and then a change in diet of much LESS kale might have temporarily thrown the duck hen's calcium off. But will see if my memory serves....gonna go look. But I shouldn't have used the word "weird" sorry if I startled you.

I don't know, has anyone ever noticed if their birds eat less oyster shell when being fed kale regularly?

but back to peas....

My 5 ducklings can go through a bag of peas a day if I let them... And yes, all 5 know that peas are made in the fridge!.. And the tall non feathered oddly shaped ducks can make the fridge produce more peas..
