I have bantams that lay fairly small eggs. . . like "18 to a dozen" LOL. I am starting to bake more now that it is cooler and my girls are laying more eggs. Anyone have an idea of what the volume is for say 2 large eggs? Is it like half a cup? If I know by measurement, then I can just fill a measuring cup to the amount of egg that I need. I don't have any store bought eggs to measure for comparison, but I'd like to know, so that I can substitute my own little eggs in the recipes. Thanks for any help with this.

With my bantam eggs, if a recipe calls for 2 large eggs, I'll use 3 or 4 depending on how small the bantam egg is...sometimes some are much bigger than others.
They'll usually weigh out to being 1 dozen large to 18 bantams...that's how I sell them, same price.

We too have bantams, nothing but bantams - and we love them to death. And yeah they do lay smaller eggs... We got girls that are just starting to lay now and their eggs are cute but very tiny. I use three or four of our girls eggs in place of two large store eggs.

Someone else here in an earlier thread mentioned MEASURING some store bought eggs in a glass measuring cup to see what TWO store eggs came out to. You do that a couple times and get a pretty standard reference, like about 1/2 cup if I remember...
A quick tour of the internet brought me this gem, yeah two large eggs measure to 1/2 cup. Lots of interesting info here so maybe you'd want to bookmark/save this link for future reference.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info. We love our little girls too -- sweet and friendly. And small enough for my little grandkids to hold comfortably!
