I bought 14 French Black Copper Marans eggs from eBay and put them in the 'bator. I've never gotten more than 50% hatch rate from shipped eggs, so my plan was to put the chicks under my two broodies, a Silkie and a Serama that are nesting together. These two have been a dynamic duo in the past with brooding chicks together, but the most chicks they've raised were 4 EEs.
I've just put the eggs in lockdown and a final candling suggests that 10 are viable. If they all hatch, do you think my little ladies can keep these chicks warm? I enjoy hatching chicks in my home, but depend on my broodies to do the work of raising them.
