how many chickens are laying

I finally got our 31 ready to lay red sex links. We have had them for 9 days now. our first day we got one egg, second day one egg, third day we got 2, fourth day we got 2, fifth day 3, six day 3, seventh day we got 5, Eighth day we got 6, today we got 7 eggs. Would it be normal for hens to lay each day when they start or do I have 10 hens laying but not just every day. It would be great to understand how they lay when there just starting.

Oh, it takes them a while both to settle into their new digs and to ramp up to laying everyday or almost everyday.

Give them a week or two and I'll bet you get many, many days of batting 1000.

Thanks for the reply, we ended up with 8 today. We are having so much fun with our new pets. My wife Anna takes out lettice to them and now they all run to her and look for treats. We can pet and pick up some already.
