Hey! I have an 8ft by 8ft chicken coop along with 12 beautiful chickens that are doing great! They go outside everyday in the summer time and enjoy the nice warm weather! They only go in the coop to lay eggs, eat, drink, and sleep during the summer. But during the winter they stay in the coop 24-7. They seem to be doing just fine.
Anywase I want to get two silkie hens because I have always wanted two silkie pullets... Is there not enough room? Should I just stick with having 12 chickens? Would they feel to crowded? I am so stressed out of knowing if my birds are unhappy with their coop size?????????? Please help! Can I get two new chickens!!??

There's 64 sq ft in the coop. Each chicken needs 3-4 sq ft. Mult. that by 12 and you get 36-48 sq feet. You have 16- 28 sq ft left. I think 2 more chickens won't hurt at all. Do they have a run? FYI, they will be picked on a bit since they're newbies.

Yes they have a huge fenced in area, a 10 foot by 20 foot area, and every other day they get to be free ranged on hot summer days.

Ok great! Thank you so much ! You have helped a lot!:)

No problem! I hope your new chickens will have a peaceful experience integrating with the flock!
