Just a follow up, the chicks have arrived today. They are all OK, all 50 of them. They are all eating. For now I will keep them in this cardboard box in my office with two lights. They seem to be comfortable.
Below are two pics:
Greetings, Your coop is 6x6'? Than the nesting boxs are almost 2' wide. you could have 5 or 6 nesting boxes in the same space. They would be less chance of them fighting over the boxes. Good luck with the chicks.
What cute chicks! All silver laced wyandottes?
Your coop looks good, with your climate and run size I would say 15 chickies would be fine there. Though eventually you might consider raising your run fencing and covering it, just to give you more peace of mind.
Well I was thinking about rearranging the boxes to make it 4. I am afraid 5 would be too many. I have taken the wood shavings out and have them sit on newspaper instead because they were eating the shavings like mad.
During the day I turn one light off and they seem to be happy, as you can see on this picture they were all laying down and sleeping.
Yes they are all SLW chicks.I really don't feel like building another coop
I will just keep 18 and sell, gift away the rest of them. I wanna avoid adding infrastructure if possible.
