How many chickens can you have in your flock ?

According to 4 sq ft per bird, about 40 - so I'd say 40 to 50 depending on how I was caring for them. Right now I have 32 coming in and 8 in the coop. My run, at 10 sq ft per bird, could hold around 75, so the 40 will be fairly happy there. It's already barren ground covered in leaves and the occasional wild bit of growth so I don't have to cry as they destroy a whole crop of grass in a matter of days

I throw tons of weeds and all my grass clippings in there, in addition to household scraps and whatever greens I can sweet talk out of the local grocers.

Right now I have ten new hampshires and six ducks, two pekins, two cayugas, and two magpies. I have twenty-nine arriving the 26th of may from murray mcmurray, 7 golden polish, 7 golden wyandottes, 7 buff orphingtons, 7 anconas, plus the freebie. Can't wait.
