to keep the eggs warm? I walked out to the coop the other day and came upon this sight.

I have since blocked off broody (The chicken on the bottom right) because they did knock an egg out of the nest. Still a sight though.

Amazing.

It's why I keep my nest boxes, laying areas no more than 12 X 12 X 12. Two will sometimes attempt it but not for long.

Thanks! And they were definitely giving her some 'extras' every once in a while. (Thank goodness I marked the original ones!) But I spoiled all their fun since I wasn't able to successfully move broody.

A lot of times I see that hens encourage eachother to baceome broody. Perhaps its an instinctive strategy to ensure the protection of the eggs and chicks?
