So, we're in the process of building our coop and run...and I'm a newbie to chickens and ducks. The girls (Roo's aren't allowed in my town) will be mostly in the enclosure, only out when we're out there. My question is this, with a 6X4X4 coop, and and a 9x9x8 run how many full sized chickens would be comfy cozy in there? I'm only getting 6 hens and 3 ducks for right now, but I'm sure I'll wind up wanting more lol. Just want to know for sure my limitations, and want to make sure all the girls are happy! I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm in NJ, so winter temps may play a factor....

The coop is on the small side for just the chickens. And the run is fine for just the chickens. I wouldnt put the chickens and ducks together. Ducks like wet and are messy. Chickens dont do well in wet.

Also, if you are going to want to add lore in the future then always build bigger. We built a good sized run and coop but we also know we cant legally add more.

This is what I get for not doing more research before I bought the plans 😭 In them he said how he felt it was big enough for at least 12 chickens... so the coop is too small for my 6?

If you make your run larger and totally weather and predator proof...
...with a separate shelter/coop for the ducks....your plan might work out.
