How many chickens is to much chickens

Have you been thru a winter with that many birds?
How big is your run?

I have had these girls since 2013. I do have to clean the coop fairly often in winter since they spend a lot more time indoors. the run is also 8 x 16 and I cover it with clear poly in the winter so they have a little solar gain to help the run stay warm. I try to keep a deep layer of bedding in the run and add as much straw\hay\wood shavings as I can to keep the floor dry and to give them a reason to scratch. I have had a lot of time off because of covid and I want to make a bigger run for them that I can cover for this winter. it is a little cramped but it has worked okay so far

How in the world do you fit 75 birds in a coop only big enough for 30? Is it like a clown car?

it is mainly a safe area to roost\lay eggs. it has enough roosts for everybody and I can get in to collect eggs and clean when I have to. they have a big run and about a 1\2 acre of pasture to roam on during the day. its probably not the best set up but they seem to be comfortable with it

Wow. I have 11 on half an acre. I can not imagine 75. I also have 11 in a coop with about the same sq ft as yours. No way would I put 75 in there.

I'm gonna say it. Do better for your birds. You're giving them factory space. The whole point of raising your own is to give them a better life. Because it is in no way cheaper.

I only have 60 birds I just harvest several of the roosters, I have 20 almost mature hens and 40 baby chicks which I think about half of them are roosters which I will harvest for meat.

I have the same amount of space I currently have 34chickens 8ducks 6turkeys 6geese im adding 4ducks Thursday and in the brooder i have 12 bantams/brahmas and 7guineas my coop is 87"×96" and my run is 128"×148" with a 500gallon pond and a 150gallon pond in it and im building a separate coop and run and separating my turkies from the rest of my flock it will not be as big but big enough for the 6 turkies

I think your coop and run are too small. I would recommend especially making the run larger. Any way you could haul off that old satellite dish to a scrap yard?

Yes I currently have 19 birds I there 3 roosters and 16 hens, I plan to make a second run for the baby chicks
