Out of sheer curiosity, and because I've never made a poll here before

Curious how many chickens/ducks/geese/turkeys/quail/pigeons/whatever other feathered critters folks here usually process a year...

Up until now I have fallen into the 11-50 category so that is what I choose in the poll. Starting next month, we will be raising and processing at least 1000 every year with the possibility of going higher than that. Should be interesting!

We do 400 or so at home, plus my oldest two kids do processing over summer for .75 per bird. Not sure how many they did last year.

Well, I never did it until a few weeks ago, and we did 4. By the way, I have one cooking in the pressure cooker right now, and he smells divine!

I used plenty of garlic, fresh sage, salt, and pepper. It smells like a gourmet restaurant here!!

During a good waterfowl season I do 50 easy. Did six snow geese the other night. Couple of years ago we did 100 snows in one evening. I've 20 chickens in the past month. I would do what I sell, but I can't in Nebraska, that is, and sell in a Farmer's Market.

As a kid, I was always processing roos.

Now, just so I could show my kids, we processed an EE on Saturday and had him for dinner on Sunday. he was delicious.

I think the results are pretty neat - shows we have a nice mix of folks from just a few birds to a whole lotta birds!

I haven't done it yet but planing to start soon.

I have too many roosters at the moment and I need to either sell some or eat them. Got them on finishing feed at the moment to fatten them up a bit so if they are still here in a few weeks they will be heading for freezer camp.

We eat 1 - 2 chickens a week usually so I'll be aiming to raise 50 - 100 for the table each year.
