How many chickens?

I'm new to this. Just to make sure I understand what I read and calculated properly, if my run is 14 feet long and 10 feet wide, the rule of thumb is that it can hold 14 chickens right?

You could put that many in that size pen. I like to give my birds a bit more space. I would put put 8-9 birds in a pen that size.
The more space they have, the happier they will be and less cleaning for you.

Makes sense. Thanks for responding. Also, My set up is an old tin garage. The whole front entrance is wire with a framed wire door. So there is plenty of ventilation and it has a good roof and walls on it. I should be fine in a structure like this without having to build a house to sleep in inside of it right? As long as there are roost bars and nest boxes properly installed in the garage?

Roostbars and nestboxes should be in a darker area of the garage.
