How many chicks are enough?

I started with a rooster and three hens, just hatched 7 more. Unfortunately I think I ended up with a couple more roos that I will have to use in the stew pot, two many roos for the number of hens!

I ordered 15 pullets and 3 cockerels. Told myself that would be waaay more than I would ever need. Then I kept seeing these maran eggs on BYC and ebay. So I ordered some eggs and hatched my own. Now i'm up to 29 and building a second coop and run as I speak. I think i'm done for a while. I'll prob. hatch some of my own eggs when these start to lay. I would have hundreds i'm sure but my wife tends to keep me in check I suppose. She reminds me how much my feed and materials bill is up to pretty often. Lol
