How many chooks do you keep in yr backyard? Nuther survey :)

Last count was 117.
Very rural
We have 30 acres, but the chickens are not on that entire area, well 2 of them are, b/c they come and go as they please, but the others are in their coops and runs.

Yay, RoxyOtis! I'm glad I'm not the only one with neighborhood chooks!

We currently have 4 hens 1 roo

We're on the outskirts of a larger town, but we're considered rural

Everyone is living in a 1 Acre yard with less then 1/8 acre of pond and woods.

20 Standard hens/pullets, 1 Standard cockerel, 14 bantams/Silkies. So 35 permanent residents.

I also have 50 chicks ranging from 3-10 weeks of age. The older 3/4s of them are out in the coop with a heat lamp and access to the outside...the rest (which are 3 week old bantams are in a rabbit hutch brooder next to my desk). I won't be keeping them all, only about 15-20 maybe.

Rural

We have 3 acres at the base of a small mountain and surrounded by state forest land.

1. How many chooks do you keep in your backyard?
We have 17 chickens
2.Do you live rural or rural town or city?
In the city, amid a fairly dense suburban area
3.How big is your yard?
Our lot is 3/4 acre, but the chickens are confined to about 1/4 acre for "free" ranging. We basically have an extra lot next to our yard where we grow fruit trees. The chooks get the orchard.
