How many crops of carrots can I get this season?

This is my first year growing carrots and I am about to harvest from my early spring planting. My question is: what should I plant in their place after harvest? Can I pant more carrots, will they tolerate and grow well in the summer heat?

Experimenting with prolonging my carrot season as well. Try shade cloth or a spot that gets only morning sun. Tomatoes peppers squash melons eggplant. Some chard's and mustards can grow in summer as well. Just don't let them bake in full sun. I am still learning to grow where I live now. Average temps in summer are in the 90's most days and some triple digit days. My humidity here is very low like 10% in the hottest part of the day. Not like AR!

I have had success with planting a second crop of carrots before, even in 90 plus degree summers. It will work better if the carrots are in a shady spot...if not you can try to provide shade. Otherwise they may be a little stunted.

Absolutely, grow successive crops of carrots. But, I'd put them somewhere else. Your climate is much different than mine. The rule of thumb here is to plant succession crops by July 4. And crops that are meant to be wintered over in a cold frame need to be planted by early Aug.

For you, your worst enemy is going to be summer heat. So, I'd try a heat lover there: melon (short season varieties) zucchini. Beans would also do well. The good thing about carrots is that they can be interplanted. I often plant lettuce, onions, radish, spinach in the same bed. The other plants keep the weeds at bay, and as they are harvested, they make more room for the carrots.
