Hope everyone is doing well today!

So after many days and hours of anxiety, stress, and all around going nutty, I am now staring at 17 beautiful baby Barred Holland Chicks🥰
Heres the thing..I have four left in the incubator with not so much as a teeny little pip!

Should I leave them for a few more days? Should I candle? Also if I do candle what should I be looking for at this point in time? Today marks day 23.

Thanks in advance😁

I would candle them. Look for internal pips and or movement. Here's a really good pic of an internal pip. Congrats again on your babies!

Thank you MGG! Unfortunately no movement, no chirps, and no internal pips. I think I even say a few blood spots on one on the side of the shell :( I guess I should be prepared for such thinga but all in all I had a 61% hatch rate for my first time incubating/hatching! Started out with 28. Three we’re clear eggs, three started growing then blood rings happened, one pipped and died, now these four that didn’t do anything. All in all I think pretty successful..I think anyways lol!

Thank you GAF! I’ll do one more day while keeping my fingers crossed!
You’re welcome. I’ve always found my hatch rates are best when I just leave the eggs alone. I know a lot of ppl do different things on diff days. I just do my best to watch the temp through the window and add water for humidity as needed, but if I just leave it closed and let the eggs be I typically hatch 80% or better on my eggs. Ive had eggs hatch on day 25, never beyond that, so that’s where I got my 25 days from.

Nice hatch rate! Do you mind if I ask which incubator you use? If these four don’t make it I’ll have a 61% hatch rate, better than I thought I would!

I have the hova-bator 1602 N Thermal Air. I also upgraded and bought it with the gqf automatic egg turner. It’s GQFMFG.com
It holds 42 eggs. I never have to turn the eggs unless our power goes out. It has a fan to circulate the air in the incubator (when I bought mine that was an upgrade too).
It’s the only incubator I’ve ever had. I think we’ve had it over 4 yrs now.

Thank you so much! I have a pro series 4250 forced air..noticed some cool spots in there when checking with my 3673 thermometers lol

I always go to 25 days.

I just finished my first ever hatch. Ran two 41 egg incubaters 5 days apart. My first batch finished on day 23 and I had 5 unhatched eggs left. I candled and saw zero movement and hardly any veining. I decided to toss them but I put a big X on one white one and decided to throw It into the second incubator as it was in lockdown. Lo and behold day 27 for the X'd egg and I get a yellow chick who is now running around and looking good
