How many different colors of chicken eggs can you (breed) make?

Thank you for the info....when you succeed in breeding for purple/violet eggs....ahhh...Can I buy a few eggs to hatch? I'll wait a year or two , if that's what it takes. Please put me on your waiting list...

For me, it's all about the egg color! I, too am trying to make many different colors. I once bid on some eggs (BYC) that had some gray colors eggs, but when it was time to ship, the girls stopped laying. I forget who it was, but the seller was nice and we agreed on something else.

I crossed a BCM roo with my Ameracuna hen and got my two olive eggers. One laid a deep rich olive egg and the other a very light one. Unfortunately, about a month ago, the dark olive egger died. For no reason that I could figure out. So, my question is, can I bread the other one with the BCM roo and possibility get another olive egger that would definitely be a darker egg? (that would be her "dad") Would that be OK?

Why yes! Crossing back to a dark layer is a popular and good decision, gets a much darker egg.

I am indeed planning to successfully breed for purple as well as gray, but I won't be selling anything under that label until my girls prove that it has worked. (which should be in 2 months)

I think that seller is Mary, check the olive egger thread, she has some beautiful grey eggs!!!

Illia, I really like the dark brown eggs. I was going to give up my Welsummer and saw that she could produce dark eggs, that is if she ever decides to lay some. Hence the idea to get rid of her and get layers that are producing right now. Got myself a real pretty olive egg today. Love it.
