Ok, Saturday we got one egg from 4 laying chooks. It was light brown. I have 2 BO that lay light brown, 1 SLW laying ever-so-slightly darker eggs, and 1 Easter Egger laying green eggs. So that egg was BO.
That night there were no eggs when they went to bed.
Next morning, Sunday, there were no eggs when they got up.
Later that day I get this pic in a text from hubby. They were all in the same favorite nest.

Ok, how'd those green eggs happen?
Wait, it gets better.
Monday, 1 light brown egg. No eggs at night.
Tuesday morning no eggs.
Tuesday afternoon?

Again?? And all in the same favorite nest.
About a month or so ago she laid 2 perfect but shelless eggs at the same time.
So, any thoughts? Do chickens often lay 2 eggs at once?

Ok now I'm really confused. Today there were 2 light brown (almost pinkish), 2 medium brown, and one green. Only 3 of my gals lay any shade of brown. I'm beginning to suspect that Petra, one of my 17 week old Barred Rock, has started laying! That just leaves Fraggle, the other Barred Rock.

Still doesn't explain the 2 green last time.:idunno

We had an EE that did that a few times, skipped a day, then laid 2 in the same day, one virtually shell less

I have an EE that starts out the egg laying season with green eggs and by the end of the season they are light blue. She seems to ‘recharge her ink’ while she’s on break. I’m sure if you only have one EE than she’s laying the blue and green.
Also- are your chickens young (under two years)?
When my chickens were young we could get ‘bonus eggs’. It seems that their body is in hyper drive when they are learning to lay. Sometime we would get a double yoker sometimes two eggs a day. Also- the fireworks seemed to force my hens to lay at night also.
Once they are older ladies they will lay a consistent egg at one per day.

The oldest 2, my BOs, are only 39 weeks old. The youngest, are 17 weeks. The EE is 25 weeks old as is the SLW. So I guess I'm in for some extra eggs for a bit!:yesss:
