How many eggs can "safley" be hatched under broody silkie?

How many eggs can "safley" be hatched under broody silkie? One Large black hen and one meduim hen. Thanks

Mine can cover about 8 standard eggs. I've never tried banty eggs.

So 7 to 8 eggs a piece should be fine?

I've got 7 bantam eggs under a broody bantam cochin, and it appears she could handle several more. I bet a silkie could handle at least as many.

I don't put them there, but my mixed bantam hens will set anywhere from 12-16 eggs. One just hatched 15 out of 16 eggs. The 16th partially hatched and stopped. When I got home it was dead but still damp with its back end still in the shell and another piece of a different shell stuck on top of that. All in all an excellent hatch, I just wish I could have been home earlier to try and save #16.
