How many eggs can she hatch

Hi I have buff Orpingtons and one had gone very broody and so I have decided to let her go ahead and have some chicks but I don't have a rooster so have to buy some fertile eggs I wanted to get twelve as she is a huge hen I have never seen one so big but left my dad to the business of ordering the eggs under my instruction but he took it upon himself to order 6 I don't think this is enough as they are being posted and so doesn't leave much room for success so I'm going to order some more and am just wondering do u guys think I should order 12 more or 6 more would 18 be too many for one hen to handle

18 Eggs is too many. A full dozen or less would give the best results. All eggs should be put under the broody at the same time so that the chicks hatch at the same time. This also gives better results than having chicks hatch on different days.
