It was very cold last night 11 to14
But the coop was warm 38 and the girls came through.
Keep plugging up the holes from the horses. Putting in more windows so i can cut off the lights.
I have them on 6 to 8 am and 6 to 9 pm.
I find it really helps with the laying.
i think you could probably get away with no added light at all mine have picked up laying in the last month or so. i dont have any added light in the coop just daylight hrs. been getting 14-18 eggs a day from 19 that are laying right now. 3 slackers havent picked backup yet since fall. either that or just cut the light that you run from 6-9 pm that way they can roost when the sun goes down. i would imagine your egg numbers will be the same even if you did that.![]()
