How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

" limo" egg was indeed a double yolker. Being the mother of twins I love any thing twinish!
I brought the little neighbor girls in the coop one at a time today to see what Miss Lucy left in the nest box, and they were all so excited.
Very fun, double yolkers bring luck, my grandpa used to say! So fun for the kids too

I got three today. One on the ground in front of the coop. I think I know who it was but not one single hen lays in a nesting box. Two lay in a nest they make in the coop and one lays wherever she happens to be.
our were doing that too so we re-modeled the nest boxes, and cooped them up in the am's.....Gertie was the first to use the box for her first egg!!

Have you tried putting wooden or plastic eggs in the boxes to teach them where to lay???
That didn't work for me! I put golf balls in a cluster of 3 in 2 different boxes and the hens moved to the boxes that didn't have the golf balls in them. So I removed them and they took off on their own just fine. Today 9 from 11. The 2 days before was 10 / 11.

one of my RIR started laying but she goes out side the run to do it and then goes back in the coop after laying shes laying in a little hole outside
thats were she is laying rigth now

Well I guess 4.5/ 5 pullets layers 3 to go still(2 RIR's and 1 Amber White "Snow")..... today the 20 week old pullets are starting to get busy!! Got a very tiny shelless egg(membrane only with yolk and white) droped from the roost under "Rhody" when I went out to scoop the coop and shut the door for the night. She is the lead henchmen sister of the RIR trio, and one of our original 5 chicks hatched on Easter Sunday!! She and Gertie were acting weird today, off in hidden spots poking around but she never layed an egg like gertie.
RHODY( the mistaken for a rooster with an awesome comb pullet!)
