How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Rhoise, how did you connect the plastic to the outside of the pen? I've got my 3mil plastic and was thinking about using duck tape. (I've got quite a bit of duck tape and it seems to work well on many projects.)
I used these 1"wood screws they had at HD with little rubber washers made for roofing material, the plastic you see on mine is stiff polyvinal roofing material, 3ml plastic may rip in the wind so i would use fir stripping and wood screws, so you get a good ammount of surface covered where it attaches, and it will be less likely to rip. We thought about plastic but were worried 3mm wasnt thick enough and couldnt find 6-7mm in clear. It was $80 with a coupon for the roofing stuff, but i was able to cover my run 36" high all around, and hopefully it will last a couple years. The rolls of plastic were like $45 or so, not counting the fir stripping or lattice we were going to buy to hold it down. I also liked the idea of being able to easily attach and detach the panels with a few screws, so when the weather is nice we can open things up, or close in bad

Got 5 so far today...the girls are doing quite well in the cold. We've not had a real cold spell till yesterday...BRRRRRRRRRR is it cold this morning!! I'm afraid I'm fixin to have to seperate the Polish roos from the other roos. The Polish are getting a little aggressive, and they are making the other boys uneasy. I've been hoping that the older boys will put them in their place but I don't know if they will...maybe I might get rid of some of the boys. I'm just not wanting to do that because my daugther will be so sad...

Rhoise, good suggestion. We purchased the 3mil at Menards on sale for under $30 for a 8'x100' roll. We have a re-purposed dog kennel with 1/2" hardware cloth around the bottom. I would be able to double the thickness and then the height of the plastic would be about 4' (my total height of the kennel is 6'). The coop/shed is 10x12 with the coop portion 10x5 for my 9 hens. We have three acres in a "subdivision" and were required to have the building have similar siding and roof color as our home. You can see that it would be harder to attach poly panels to the kennel.

what a nice big coop! mine is so small we are enclosing the run with panels so the girls don't get cabin fever this winter. I see your issue with chainlink, maybe tie wraps and latice to hold down the plastic, saw that on Wichita Cabin coop page.....

its fall and my girls have slowed down big time anyone else with the same situation.
Nelson I am cheating and adding light from 6am-8pm so my girls are still going like gangbusters, it will come at a price I fully understand 2 years from now. You and Leslie made the choice to give your gals a break and I commend you for it. It's 39 days till the solstice, until then without light things will continue to slow down or even stop in some cases. No worries, spring will come!! And I can't wait to see the ducklings!!! Is your Barred Rock the same gal that just hatched the chicks? How is she doing? crazy hens will hatch hatch hatch hopefully she takes a break too :)
