How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

My 3 S. Sussex are 34 weeks old and I haven't gotten an egg in over a week. I had one laying 4 -5 a week and she stopped. My others look mature enough to lay but notta. Frustrating! I have had my light on in the coop starting at 5am for 9 days now with no impact. Is it Saratoga air?

If you're in New York, having the lights come on at 5AM this time of year only gives you 12 hours of daylight, at most. You need at least 14.
I'm in northern WV and my lights come on at 2:30AM. It's fairly dark by 5PM or so, so that gives 14.5 hours.

Only 5 eggs today. Hopefully my hens are finally starting to slow down. I've been turning the lights off at 6 p.m. in an attempt to slow their laying for a while. Looking forward to January when the days will be getting longer than they are now.

My lights come on in the morning on a timer from 5:30-7:30am and then go back on at 4:30pm-8:30pm.
We are averaging probably 8.5-9 eggs per day, which I'm thrilled with at this point! I know that chickens have a certain amount of eggs they can produce in a lifetime and people seem 50/50 on lighting a coop, but we are really trying to keep a productive flock and not just pets...though I spoil them like pets!

By lighting that late into the evening and not lighting super early early in the morning, the chickens tend to lay later in the morning, but that's ok. I usually get one or two brown eggs by 7am when I leave for work and the rest by 3:00 when I get home. So far, no frozen eggs! My White Leghorns lay slightly smaller eggs and lay later into the day, but they're very reliable!!

6/9 Youngest girls not laying still but everyone else is doing great! My RIR eggs have gotten quite large and almost spherical. They're awesome! My 4 year old Australorp has started only laying a few times a week most weeks but still lays giant grenades when she does.
