How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

School was cancelled today due to windchill temperatures in the -16 to -20 degree F range. We got about a half inch of snow yesterday, so that wasn't a problem, but didn't want the kiddos waiting for the bus in those extreme temperatures.
I did feed all the chickens and turkeys warm runny oatmeal with cut up chunks of apples in it this morning. None of the chickens seemed to mind the cold. I had thought they might stay in their coops for the most part, but they didn't.
Just 1 lone egg today.

Poor Lovie, she is losing dozens of feathers a day. Yeah she has decided to molt in the middle of winter. View attachment 1238062.View attachment 1238063. Its incredible, she will shake and a dozen feathers fly off.
4/5 today.GC
Makes you feel sorry for her doesn't it. You would think that they would know better than to get bare in the middle of winter!:idunno

On a fabulous note "My GIRLS," have laid 1,010 EGGS as of yesterday!! This is since I got my new girls in May!! My Barred Rock & Golden Comets laid dark brown & beige colored eggs & my Americanas are laying shades of GREEN colored eggs!! They are laying eggs even in the cold snowy weather we had in Milton, Florida. The only problems is making sure the frozen water is broken and water is provided. Just love my GIRLS!! Today I got 16 eggs, nine eggs are brown & 7 eggs green. A person who got baby chicks when I did is not getting very many eggs from his hens. Good luck with your beautiful girls laying eggs!!
