How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Should I be splitting mine up between LF and Bantams? I haven’t. But today!!!! My EE bantam laid her first! 14/17 again which is awesome. Or 12/14 LF, 2/3 Bantams.

I did get a strange egg. Wonky sized and laid outside. We cooked it up for the girls. The yolk and main whites looked good. But there was a ton of watery whites. I should probably learn the proper names...

trade the peeps for her eggs then
You mean the new chicks? But I don't think she has been broody long enough to fall for that from what I've read (even if she is a little dim bless her!). And crazy mama hen'raptor would be VERY annoyed with me if I tried to take her babies (based on how wonderful she has been with the eggs and sitting so far!). There are some other breeds I want to add to our flock so I'm happy to put some eggs under her - I'm thinking some Marans and some Cream Legbar :love

2 so far - one was thin shelled and had been squashed in the nesting box then probably eaten some of by the look of it (although it was all through the straw so hard to tell!). They are on layer rations with oyster shell on the side so just hoping it is new pullet laying still getting sorted as this is the 2nd or 3rd thin shell.

Doris not moving from the nest box (I actually carried her from the outside laying shelter thing in the plastic tub nest to put her up in the coop last night and she didnt' say boo!) so I think I can scratch her of the egg laying roster!

Another egg from the 3rd of my 'layers' so 3/3.
Doris came down from the coop to eat and drink but then went back to the nest in the run rather than the one in the coop (temporary arrangement) so I'll move her when I go to lock them up and see what happens tomorrow. I'm going to pick up a little wooden play house on Friday which is perfect for a silkie and her chicks (if they are born) for a while and will be a very quick conversion (hardwire cloth and that is it until the chicks need a roost) so if Doris is serious about being broody I can then move her to the maternity ward on the weekend / Monday :D
